Recap: Florence Gophers vs. San Tan Foothills Sabercats

The Florence Gophers came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 46-40 W over San Tan Foothills on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Florence also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Florence's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keylee Scarbrough, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 20 rebounds. Scarbrough hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Wetherell, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, San Tan Foothills had strong showings from Cienna Witcher, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Charis Gray, who scored eight points along with three steals.

San Tan Foothills struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Florence racked up 11 assists.

Florence's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for San Tan Foothills, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Florence will head out on the road to face off against Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Christian will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Florence surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Tan Foothills, they will be playing at home against Palo Verde at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Tan Foothills is on a six-game streak of home losses, Palo Verde a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
