Softball Recap: West Monona Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

West Monona got themselves on the board against Spirit Lake on Saturday, but Spirit Lake never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by eight runs or more this season.

West Monona pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Spirit Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

West Monona wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-4 loss against MOC-Floyd Valley on the 31st. As for Spirit Lake, they will host Storm Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tornadoes will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
