Baseball Recap: Hillsboro-Deering Comes Up Short

Kearsarge hit Hillsboro-Deering with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hillcats took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Hillcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Hillsboro-Deering saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrien Cordeiro, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Cordeiro has brought in this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Hillsboro-Deering and nudges their season record down to 1-13. As for Kearsarge, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-11 record.

Looking ahead, Hillsboro-Deering is taking a road trip to challenge Raymond at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hillcats are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Kearsarge, they will welcome Fall Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for the Cougars: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home dating back to last season, while the Wildcats have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
