Basketball Recap: Patrick County's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

After a string of seven wins, Patrick County's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 44-39 to the Martinsville Bulldogs. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 51-49.

Patrick County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Abigail Royall, who posted nine points along with six boards and three steals. Gracen Conner was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Patrick County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Martinsville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Patrick County is set to take on their familiar foe Floyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Martinsville will face off against rival Radford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
