Softball Recap: Florida Christian Has No Trouble Against Immaculata-La Salle

Florida Christian never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Patriots have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Shaun Fernandez and Kayla Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Fernandez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Diaz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Fernandez scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Diaz scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Diaz a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Charlee Arana was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Kianny Gil was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Florida Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immaculata-La Salle only posted an OBP of .000.

Florida Christian's record is now 9-4. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florida Christian will face off against Mater Bay Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Florida Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Mater Bay Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they will challenge Miami Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Immaculata-La Salle has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
