Tri-County recap Oct. 31, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Woodland, who took down 421st ranked River Valley, 46-24. Trevor Young threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 47 yards in the win.
The Wolves moved up to 660 from 720 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-County. Woodland was able to make move up by besting the Falcons 46-24.
Terence White was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 123 yards on six carries as Inderkum defeated Natomas. Teammate Josh Montes added to the ground attack by rushing for 92 yards.
Devin Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bert Salinas' team topped River Valley. The junior grabbed one interception and forced one fumble.
Herrera was the best wideout in the league this week as the Honkers beat the Nighthawks. Herrera tallied one reception for 71 yards. Louis Mowers helped Yuba City's passing attack out by catching one ball for 36 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Taylor Elkins and Nate Van Dusen Yuba City has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Elkins leads the league in passing with 991 yards, while Van Dusen has rushed for 1052 yards this season. Brandon Asher's team's Timothy (TJ) Dove leads the league in receiving yards with 355 on 15 catches.
A big matchup in Tri-County this week will be when John Ithuburn's team takes on the Falcons. At the moment, the Honkers are in first, while River Valley is in third.
Yuba City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Natomas, 55-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Honkers.
