Softball Game Preview: Robbinsville Black Knights vs. Murphy Bulldogs

Robbinsville has gone 9-1 against Murphy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Robbinsville will head out to take on Murphy at 4:30 p.m. Robbinsville will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Robbinsville barely beat Hiwassee Dam the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Robbinsville blew past Hiwassee Dam 10-0 on Friday. The Black Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Naomi Taylor was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Daphne Barlow and Sophie Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Barlow scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Roberts scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Roberts has posted since back in May of 2024. Ella Atwell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Murphy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Tellico Plains on Thursday.

Robbinsville's record now sits at 7-2. As for Murphy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything went Robbinsville's way against Murphy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Robbinsville made off with a 12-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Robbinsville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
