Basketball Recap: Noah Coppersmith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Paxton over Dundy County-Stratton

Paxton lost against Dundy County-Stratton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Paxton Tigers fell 48-37 to the Dundy County-Stratton Tigers. The contest marked Paxton's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Coppersmith, who posted eight points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Coppersmith a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasper Brewster, who scored seven points.

Ethan Latta continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dundy County-Stratton, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Latta's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lane Bybee, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Paxton moved to 11-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Dundy County-Stratton, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

When Paxton and Dundy County-Stratton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Paxton will try to stop Bertrand's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Dundy County-Stratton will take on Alma and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
