North Mecklenburg never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Queen's Grant on Monday. Everything went their way against the Queen's Grant Stallions as they made off with a 14-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Alex Beall was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ryan Clark was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Ran Diaz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
North Mecklenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
North Mecklenburg's record now sits at 2-3. As for Queen's Grant, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Mecklenburg is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Hough at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give North Mecklenburg their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Queen's Grant, they are taking a road trip to square off against Langtree Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Langtree Charter Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
