Baseball Recap: Mayfield Comes Up Short

Mayfield lost against Gilmour Academy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers.

Mayfield got a good showing from Connor Mize, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Mayfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Koret, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Mayfield now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Gilmour Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayfield will square off against North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The match will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Gilmour Academy, they will challenge Nordonia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
