Soccer Game Preview: Sweetwater vs. Monte Vista

The Sweetwater Red Devils will face off against the Monte Vista Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sweetwater is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Sweetwater is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Kearny just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Komets. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, the Red Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Their goal came courtesy of Eduardo Ruiz, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monte Vista). They walked away with a 5-3 win over Valhalla on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Monarchs as they're now sitting on four straight.

Monte Vista is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those seven contests. As for Sweetwater, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3-4.
