Softball Recap: Oregon Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Oregon dropped their record down to 21-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Watertown Goslings by a score of 8-6. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Goslings earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

As for Watertown, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Watertown's part, Cali Craig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. Craig has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Breanna Meracle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Howlett, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oregon will challenge DeForest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Norskies at the right time seeing as the Norskies are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Watertown, they will face off against Beaver Dam at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Goslings will need to watch out since the Golden Beavers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
