Baseball Recap: Webster County Takes a Loss

Webster County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwood Gators. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Webster County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Canaan Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Webster County's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Greenwood, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webster County will head out to challenge Madisonville-North Hopkins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenwood, they will venture away from home to face off against South Warren at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
