Basketball Recap: Sidwell Friends Quakers vs. Bullis Bulldogs
The Sidwell Friends Quakers are ranked highly in their home state, and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Bullis Bulldogs. Sidwell Friends walked away with a 61-52 victory over the Bulldogs. The win was familiar territory for Sidwell Friends who now have four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sidwell Friends to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendall Dudley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Dudley hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Ava Yoon was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Bullis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Meghan Yarnevich. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yarnevich has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivanna Manyacka, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Sidwell Friends pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Bullis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Sidwell Friends will face off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Ireton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.9 points per game this season. Bullis is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Huskies at 5:45 p.m. on January 30th. Flint Hill is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
