Baseball Recap: Seaside Comes Up Short

Seaside extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 14-3 to the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Pajaro Valley, their record now sits at 2-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

For Pajaro Valley's part, Roy Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Sanchez has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Perez-Moreno, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dorian Reyna, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

While Seaside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
