Volleyball Recap: Punahou Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Mater Dei

Punahou is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Mater Dei. The Buff n' Blue took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarchs. The Buff n' Blue just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

While Punahou ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17.

Punahou's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Mater Dei, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Punahou didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Moapa Valley on the 19th. As for Mater Dei, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Folsom on the 19th.
