Volleyball Recap: Hickory Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Kings Mountain

Hickory faced Kings Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Red Tornadoes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Friday.

While Hickory was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-19.

Hickory moved to 23-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Kings Mountain, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-1.

Looking ahead, Hickory will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Iredell at 5:30 p.m. As for Kings Mountain, they are taking a road trip to take on North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
