Baseball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

Commerce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They lost 21-8 to the Lone Oak Buffaloes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Buffaloes since April 18, 2023.

Austin Cook and Brayden Romans stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cook scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Romans scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Those two runs gave Romans a new career-high. Degio Balderrama also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Commerce's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Lone Oak, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Commerce Tigers challenge Paradise Panthers at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lone Oak, they will face off against Edgewood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
