Softball Recap: Shorecrest Prep's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Shorecrest Prep was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Largo Packers. The matchup marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Samantha Beltran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bobbie Strus was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 3-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season.

The defeat snapped Shorecrest Prep's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-2 record. As for Largo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shorecrest Prep will take on Bradenton Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Largo, they will square off against Clearwater at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
