This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. Among the action were the efforts of Boyle County's junior Reed Lanter, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.

The Pikeville offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. The final score between it and Williamsburg was a 57 - 16 blowout in Pikeville's favor. Pikeville did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. Thanks to its success, Pikeville cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Boyle County got a 41 - 24 win over Belfry last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Reed Lanter. Lanter tossed the ball for 264 yards and five TDs. In fact, our algorithms singled out Lanter as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
Simon Kenton and Scott County went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (84) among all power ranked teams. Scott County took its game against Simon Kenton by a confident 56 - 28 score. Even if it didn't bump Scott County up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Trinity (10th in the power rankings) and Male (4th). The teams have their eyes fixed on the championship after last-week playoff conquests. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
