Softball Game Preview: North Penn Knights vs. Avon Grove Red Devils

The North Penn Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Avon Grove Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. North Penn's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Avon Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

North Penn took a loss when they played away from home on May 3rd, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Central Bucks East an 11-0 shutout. The match marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season so far.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Avon Grove had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bears 1-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Devils, who have now won three games in a row.

North Penn has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Avon Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.

North Penn was able to grind out a solid win over Avon Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2022, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
