Baseball Recap: Taft Toreadors vs. El Camino Real Royals

Taft had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-19 to make it six. They lost 10-2 to the El Camino Real Royals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

As for El Camino Real, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-8. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 9-0).

For El Camino Real's part, Luke Howe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. Howe has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adan Viner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Joey Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Taft had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
