Softball Recap: Delta Eagles vs. Daleville Broncos

If Delta was riding high off their 20-0 takedown of Muncie Central last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Delta Eagles fell just short of the Daleville Broncos by a score of 11-10 on Wednesday. Even though they lost, Delta's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Fancy Robbins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple. Another player making a difference was Addie Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

On Daleville's side, Valyn Pattengale was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Emily Simmons was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Delta is on the road again on Saturday to play Yorktown at 9:00 a.m. Yorktown will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Delta surely won't give up without a fight. As for Daleville, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tri's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Daleville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
