Baseball Recap: Maize Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Maize barely beat Andover the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Jacob Doty's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

On the hitting side, Cooper Shaw was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Sam Soderstrom was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Maize pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Andover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maize will welcome Andover Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Andover, they will take on Eisenhower at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
