Softball Recap: Ore City Rebels vs. Beckville Bearcats
Ore City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Beckville Bearcats, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 last Tuesday.
Brooke Byrd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Mazye Hawkins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Ore City's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-1. As for Beckville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ore City will take on Elysian Fields at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Ore City has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Beckville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Beckville Bearcats take on Union Grove Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. They are strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
