Volleyball Recap: Pius X Beats Gretna East for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Pius X extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 4-0. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Gretna East Griffins. That's more bragging rights for the Thunderbolts, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pius X can attribute much of their success to Kami Wemhoff, who had 16 digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gretna East fell to 5-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

Despite the defeat, Gretna East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklyn Beethe had 14 digs. Beethe is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Looking ahead, Pius X will face off against Papillion-LaVista on Saturday. As for Gretna East, they will square off against Elkhorn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
