Softball Recap: Straughn Takes a Loss

After flying high against New Brockton on Thursday, Straughn came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Ariton Purple Cats by a score of 2-1 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Purple Cats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in February.

Straughn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyleigh Bennett, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Straughn's loss dropped their record down to 21-8-1. As for Ariton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Straughn and Ariton will both be playing Kinston the next time they take the field. The Purple Cats will host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
