It was another big night for Lincoln Tubbs, who rushed for 163 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also threw for 104 yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Kaden Winkfield also helped with two scores in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Aledo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Arlington Heights didn't have too much trouble with Monterey on Thursday as they won 56-41. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Yellowjackets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Plainsmen are ranked 380th).
Aledo better focus on containing Carmelo Carter and Carson James as the pair were huge in Arlington Heights' win. Carter rushed for 160 yards and four TDs, while James rushed for 222 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. James is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Evans, who picked up 39 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Arlington Heights didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Isaiah Schuman and Antonio Johnson. Jaheim Marshall was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 11 total tackles.
Aledo's record now sits at 12-0. As for Arlington Heights, their record is now 11-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Aledo has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 246.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Arlington Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 269 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Aledo against Arlington Heights in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, as the squad secured a 64-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
