Volleyball Recap: New Covenant Gryphons vs. Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators
New Covenant and Greenbrier Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but New Covenant had to settle for second. They came up short against the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators, falling 3-0. The Gryphons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
The final score came out to 25-13, 25-21, 25-13.
Naomi Rigg paced New Covenant's offense, picking up seven kills. Rigg got some help from
Jocelyn Walker and her 16 assists. Finally,
Alicia Kenny kept New Covenant's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for New Covenant and nudges their season record down to 17-9-2. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 31-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.
New Covenant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Chelsea Academy on the 7th.
