After losing to Xavier the last time they met, Manitowoc Lincoln decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Ships sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Hawks on Saturday.

Abby Weidmayer paced Manitowoc Lincoln's offense, picking up eight kills. Weidmayer got some help from Cora Foster and her 12 assists. Weidmayer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

When it comes to explaining why Xavier lost, don't look at Bella Velasquez. Despite the final result, she had eight digs and three aces. Velasquez has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Manitowoc Lincoln now has a winning record of 19-18. As for Xavier, their loss dropped their record down to 23-9.
