Basketball Recap: Blanco Panthers vs. Southwest Dragons
Blanco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a blow against the Southwest Dragons, falling 50-23.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carleigh Dotson, who posted four points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Silva, who had three points and four steals.
Southwest found their leader in sophomore Genaya Santos, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Santos has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Geanna Martinez, who put up six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
Blanco's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Southwest, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-16 record this season.
Blanco wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-21 loss against Jarrell on the 28th. As for Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-41 victory against Randolph on the 28th.
