Volleyball Recap: Wareham Comes Up Short

Wareham was the 3-1 winner over Avon when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Wednesday. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 17-25, 25-17, 25-14.

Mackenzie Via-Kashner paced Wareham's offense, picking up nine kills. Via-Kashner got some help from Olivia LaCava and her 26 assists. Andrew Harty controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Wareham's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Avon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Wareham is set to face off against their familiar foe Atlantis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Avon will take on rival Westport at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
