Volleyball Recap: Austin Catholic Starts Season with Victory at Home

Austin Catholic took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Academy of the Sacred Heart Gazelles. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Gazelles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-18, 25-15.

Emerson Minjoe paced Austin Catholic's offense, picking up nine kills. Minjoe got some help from Rebecca Shrodes and her 18 assists. Allie Gianino controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Academy of the Sacred Heart is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

After both having extra time off, Austin Catholic and Memphis will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of the Sacred Heart has already played their next match (against Bishop Foley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
