Softball Preview: Mid-Buchanan Dragons vs. Penney Hornets        
        
		
             The Mid-Buchanan Dragons will head out to  face off against the Penney Hornets  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Mid-Buchanan is looking to tack on another W to their 15-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
 Mid-Buchanan can't be too worried about heading out to take on Penney: they just beat North Platte at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. Mid-Buchanan walked away with  a   4-1  win over North Platte  on Tuesday.
  Kaylea Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one  run (which was  unearned)  on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Those seven  innings set a new season-high mark for  her.
 On the hitting side,  Kaleigh Strong was  incredible,  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances with a  home run and two  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lindy Eaton, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile,  it was close, but  on Tuesday Penney sidestepped West Platte for  a  3-2 victory.
  Braelynn Calton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  struck out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   six  hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts every time she's  pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Cadence Burke, who  went 3-for-3 with three  doubles and two  RBI. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  hits.
 Mid-Buchanan's record now sits at 18-1. As for Penney, their record now sits at 5-12.
 Mid-Buchanan took their  win against Penney  in their previous matchup  back in September of 2023 by a conclusive  9-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mid-Buchanan since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
