Baseball Game Preview: Princeton Day Panthers vs. King's Christian Knights

The Princeton Day Panthers will face off against the King's Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Princeton Day has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while King's Christian will come in with three straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when Princeton Day challenged Lawrence on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask King's Christian). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over LEAP Academy on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Bryce Brown and Brayden Pickard were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Brown struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Pickard tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At bat, Brown scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Pickard scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Pickard is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, King's Christian got a big performance out of Aiden Lawlor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Matty Pancurak was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

King's Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Princeton Day's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for King's Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
