Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Lanesville's Winning Streak

Lanesville dropped their record down to 4-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Corydon Central Panthers, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Panthers since April 25, 2018.

As for Corydon Central, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Corydon Central's part, they let Rease Jones and Ava Juhasz run wild. Jones got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs, while Juhasz went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Juhasz a new career-high. Paisley Teeter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Lanesville will head out to take on Henryville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Corydon Central, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Providence at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Panthers have won four straight at home, while the Pioneers won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
