League recap: Kotch throws longest pass in league this season for Glenbard East

Joe Kotch and Mike Kjeldson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against West Chicago. The connection was good for 78 yards, the longest such play in DuPage Valley this season.

Kotch of Glenbard East ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against the Wildcats last week. Kotch's team bested West Chicago as he sprinted for 71 yards on the play and finished with 196 in all.

Glenbard East's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kotch threw for 328 and four touchdowns and Kjeldson had 209 yards receiving. Dan Ryan helped Glenbard East's passing attack out by catching four balls for 56 yards.

Glenbard East's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kotch has thrown for 1629 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Malysha Flanders has 20 catches for 426 yards. Kotch also leads the league in rushing with 528 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Glenbard North takes on Wheaton North. The Panthers have allowed 113 points this season, while the Falcons have given up 49. Glenbard North allowed 21 points last week as it beat Wheaton-Warrenville South.

John Walters' team moved up to 266 from 304 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in DuPage Valley. The Rams climbed the ranks as a result of a 60-25 win over Bill Bicker's team.
