Softball Recap: Scott Starts off Right with Win over Sherman

Scott took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Sherman Tide with a sharp 7-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Skyhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cambri Barker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Barker was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Esbrandt, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sherman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Scott will welcome Sissonville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sherman, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Marys at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
