Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Central Irish vs. Calhoun Red Devils

The St. Joseph Central Irish are taking a road trip to challenge the Calhoun Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Joseph Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

While St. Joseph Central's win against West Carter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Irish had just enough and edged out the Comets 13-11. That's two games straight that the Irish have won by exactly two runs.

Cam Kellar was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Pence, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Calhoun fell victim to Sissonville and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 20-0 to the Indians. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost five in a row.

Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for St. Joseph Central, their victory bumped their record up to 26-2.

Everything went St. Joseph Central's way against Calhoun when the teams last played back in April, as St. Joseph Central made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
