Baseball Recap: Murphysboro Find Success

Murphysboro's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Wayne City Indians.

Eli Fleming made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Fleming was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Shakur Karg was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Murphysboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Murphysboro's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Wayne City, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1.

Coming up, Murphysboro will take on Highland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne City, they will square off against Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
