Baseball Recap: Manchester Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Manchester owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Whiteoak Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greyhounds have posted since April 9th.

Luke Applegate made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Applegate wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Traevyn Hilderbrand, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Manchester's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Whiteoak, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Coming up, Manchester will face off against Peebles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Greyhounds are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Whiteoak, they will be playing at home against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
