Baseball Recap: Mcminn Central Has No Trouble Against Tellico Plains

After only one run in their last contest, McMinn Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tellico Plains on Tuesday. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bears. The Chargers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th.

Tyler Oaks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. McMinn Central is undefeated when Oaks posts eight or more strikeouts, but 6-7 otherwise. Oaks was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hunter Rayburn and Corbyn Frisbie did most of the damage at the plate: Rayburn scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Frisbie scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, Frisbie posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Plemons, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

McMinn Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tellico Plains only posted an OBP of .269.

McMinn Central's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Tellico Plains, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: McMinn Central beat the Bears by a score of 23-2 later that day.
