Baseball Recap: Wellsboro Takes a Loss

Wellsboro scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Athens Wildcats, falling 16-10. The defeat leaves the Hornets still looking for their first win of the season.

Alec Magli made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Cameron Owlett also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Wellsboro's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. Athens has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Wellsboro will welcome Towanda at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Athens, they will venture away from home to take on Wyalusing Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wyalusing Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something Athens will no doubt try to take advantage of.
