Baseball Game Preview: St. Anthony Saints vs. Paramount Pirates

The St. Anthony Saints are taking a road trip to square off against the Paramount Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anthony will be strutting in after a win while Paramount will be coming in after a loss.

St. Anthony took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Artesia, sneaking past 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Owen Frazier, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew James, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Frazier wasn't the only one working in the home run department: St. Anthony lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Paramount didn't have quite enough to beat Bellflower on Friday and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by just one run.

David Serrano was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Jacob Quinones was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

St. Anthony's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Paramount, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. Anthony took their victory against Paramount in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Anthony since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
