Football Game Preview: Waitsburg Cardinals vs. St. John-Endicott Eagles + How To Watch

The Waitsburg Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the St. John-Endicott Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Waitsburg's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six games.

Waitsburg is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Pomeroy, who was ranked sixth at the time (Waitsburg was ranked 14th). The Cardinals were dealt an 80-46 defeat at the hands of the Pirates on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (42), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Waitsburg's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayton Gleason, who rushed for 141 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and Landen Henry, who picked up 297 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Gleason also passed for four passing touchdowns, which is notable because the Cardinals are 3-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

Even if they lost, Waitsburg's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Koyen Fortune and Victor Whitmore, who racked up four sacks between them. Whitmore is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, St. John-Endicott was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were beaten by Garfield-Palouse 56-18.

St. John-Endicott's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Waitsburg, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3.
