Baseball Recap: Versailles Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Versailles got themselves on the board against Ansonia on Monday, but Ansonia never followed suit. They put the hurt on Ansonia with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering Versailles has won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sam Deland made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Deland was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chase Monnin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Subler, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.

Versailles has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Ansonia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Versailles will host Coldwater at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ansonia, they will head out to take on Fairlawn at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Jets at the right time seeing as the Jets are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
