Basketball Game Preview: Ilwaco Fishermen vs. Willapa Valley Vikings

The Ilwaco Fishermen will head out on the road to square off against the Willapa Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ilwaco has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Ilwaco is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Chief Leschi by a score of 74-67 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Willapa Valley entered their tilt with Naselle on Tuesday with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. They were the clear victor by a 72-51 margin over the Comets. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

Willapa Valley's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Ilwaco, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Ilwaco couldn't quite finish off Willapa Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 68-65. Can Ilwaco avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
