East Wilkes has gone 8-2 against Alleghany recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cardinals will face off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Wilkes has three straight victories, Alleghany has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

East Wilkes had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Avery County on Thursday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Alleghany didn't have quite enough to beat East Wilkes on Tuesday and fell 4-2.

Alleghany saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Higgins, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Greyson Pipes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

East Wilkes' win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Alleghany, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

East Wilkes skirted past Alleghany 4-2 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
