Saranac Lake takes loss despite strong efforts from Melvin Cirikovic and Caleb Akey

Recap: Saranac Lake Red Storm vs. Saranac Spartans

The Saranac Lake Red Storm were the 56-45 winner over the Saranac Spartans when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Saranac Lake took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saranac. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Caleb Akey and Melvin Cirikovic certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Akey scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Cirikovic scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cirikovic has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Mccarthy, who scored four points along with five assists.

Saranac Lake's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Saranac, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Saranac Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moriah at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Saranac, they will head out on the road to face off against Schroon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Schroon Lake has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three matchups.
