Basketball Game Preview: Montello Hilltoppers vs. Portage Warriors

Montello is on a six-game streak of home losses also dating back to last season, Portage a 13-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Montello Hilltoppers will welcome the Portage Warriors at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Montello had to suffer through a 61-13 loss at the hands of Randolph. The contest marked the Hilltoppers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-20, which was the final score in Portage's tilt against Stoughton on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Vikings are ranked 149th).

Portage's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Montello, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Montello skirted past Portage 47-44 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Montello repeat their success, or does Portage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
